"Joe and Whitney Mitchell of State Farm have been an integral part of our efforts to provide support to veterans statewide. The annual Disabled American Veterans Golf Tournament has morphed into the largest benefit golf tournament in Montana. Last year the tournament provided $264,000 to help veterans; we could not have achieved this level of success without Joe and Whitney's continuing support and participation."

"Excellent agent and very personable! Though I haven’t met Joe in person yet, I could tell by our phone conversations that he cares and wants to give clients the best ways to save money. The conversation we had about adding life insurance to husband’s plan went seamlessly-asides the internet having a hiccup sending the necessary documents via email. We teased that was because we were so efficient the internet had to lag so we can get to know each other more! 😛 I’m really glad my husband has been a client at State Farm for so many years. "This review is two-fold: first, it is based on State Farm as a company and second, it is based on Joe Mitchell and his office. Overall, State Farm has lost the plot. They have gotten progressively worse from a pricing and customer service point. They are slower, more expensive, and they tie in a lot of “discounts” that simply make them the same price to other insurance companies. We have been with State Farm for 20+ years - no accidents or claims - yet why can I go to another insurance competitor and get the same rate as I get at State Farm? There really is no “loyalty” or “good driving” discount as they make it seem in comparison with their competition. Regarding Joe Mitchell and his team. When you go with Joe, don’t expect to really speak with him much unless he first wants your business or there is an issue that you press with the office so that it forces him to speak to you. His team is fine. Mike seems nice and has always treated our parents well. We have had other issues with the office staff - wrong information, wrong submission of our info to underwriters, etc. What’s interesting is that we didn’t have those issues when living in other states or even with other State Farm offices in Montana. The only time we have had issues with service is with Joe and his team. My guess is that the excuse for this is that his office is "extremely busy” as they took on another agent’s clientele after his unfortunate passing. I get that…to an extent. That was years ago. One would think that consistently good service would become the norm and that isn’t the case. Honestly, we are at the tipping point. We are truly thinking about moving on to another company all together as the price difference is within $100 per year total. Bad service. Excuses. Rude staff at times (none of the men other than Joe have been rude, just the women in the office). Bad pricing. Lack of actual discounts - just lip service to sell their product. There are better ways to treat customers. We don’t need to be treated like royalty, but we would absolutely expect some professionalism, expediency, and accuracy when dealing with our policies from this office."

Regarding your comments about meeting with Joe, we want to assure you that Joe is always willing to meet with customers by appointment. We're sorry that something different was communicated to you. Due to the size of our agency and the volume of clients we serve, it can be challenging to connect with him on a walk-in or quick call basis, but scheduling an appointment is always an option we encourage. We also regret that you feel the discount programs have not provided the value you expected. We would welcome the chance to review your household policies together to ensure that your rating is accurate and that you are receiving all applicable discounts. Lastly, we sincerely apologize if you encountered any rude behavior from our team members. Please know that we take professionalism and customer service very seriously. If given the opportunity to discuss your experience further, we would use your feedback to provide coaching and improve our service. Thank you again for your honest input.
